Acostumbrados a no darle importancia al calor, los vecinos de Las Vegas vigilan ahora el termómetro mientras la ciudad desértica va camino de batir un récord el miércoles de más días consecutivos con más de 46,1 grados Celsius , durante una persistente ola de calor que seguirá abrasando buena parte de Estados Unidos hasta el fin de semana.
El martes también se alcanzaron récords diarios en zonas de Oregon y Washington. Portland llegó a 39,4 ºC y Salem y Eugene alcanzaron los 40,5 ºC . También se reportaron temperaturas similares en Idaho. Phoenix, que ha registrado la temperatura media más alta de su historia en los primeros ocho días de julio según registros que comienzan en 1885, igualó el martes el récord de 46,6 ºC fijado en 1958.
