The Las Piñas city government conducted a vaccination drive against the human papillomavirus (HPV) for female students aged nine to 14 years old on July 21.

According to Mayor Imelda Aguilar, the vaccination drive conducted by the team of the City Health Office was held at two major schools in the city – Pamplona Elementary School Central and Talon Uno Elementary School.

Aguilar said the CHO administered the HPV vaccine to the said age group, who are in puberty and are beginning to menstruate, in order to provide a crucial shield against the virus and reduce the risks of cervical cancer.The mayor said a second dose will be administered six months after the initial dose to ensure its utmost effectiveness.

Aguilar said that as the vaccination drives continue, Vice-Mayor April Aguilar and the team of CHO remain dedicated to expanding access to vital healthcare services and promoting preventive measures to safeguard the health of its citizens.
