Larry Johnson’s son Tony, a former wide receiver at Penn State, has joined Ohio State’s coaching staff as an analyst and advisor.

Former Penn State wide receiver Tony Johnson, whose father is Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson, has joined Ohio State’s staff as an analyst, an Ohio State spokesperson confirmed toLarry Johnson revealed that his son had joined Ohio State’s staff during his speech at Monday night’s National Football Foundation Columbus Chapter awards banquet, where the elder Johnson was the recipient of this year’s Ohio Gold Award.

“It’s kind of cool to see him walking down the hallway and we’re in the same building,” Larry Johnson said. “It hasn’t happened in my career in a long time. I can’t be prouder of that.” Tony Johnson played for the Nittany Lions from 2000-03, catching 107 passes for 1,702 yards and 11 touchdowns in his four years at Penn State. Larry Johnson was Penn State’s defensive line coach at the time.

Tony Johnson has not previously worked as a college football coach. He spent the past 10 years working for Fischer Homes, a home-building company. He was on the coaching staff at Olentangy Berkshire Middle School in Galena, Ohio, for the past two years.Beat No. 20 Wisconsin and No. 2 Purdue
