A new poll shows that Republican Larry Hogan, the former governor of Maryland, is trailing Democrat Angela Alsobrooks in the state's Senate race.On Monday, Public Policy Polling published a survey asking 635 Maryland voters on June 19 and 20 their views on the Senate race between Hogan and Alsobrooks.According to the poll, Alsobrooks currently holds an 11-point lead over Hogan. The poll found 45 percent siding with Alsobrooks and 34 percent siding with Hogan.
But Republicans are banking on Hogan making the race more competitive than expected as the Democratic incumbent, Senator Ben Cardin, is vacating his seat at the end of the year.In May, a poll from Emerson College found Hogan trailing Alsobrooks by 10 points. The poll found 48 percent of voters saying they would support Alsobrooks compared to 38 percent that sided with Hogan in a head-to-head matchup between the two. About 14 percent were undecided.
