Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday he isn’t ruling out a third-party presidential run with the bipartisan political group No Labels.
Mr. Hogan, a Republican and fierce critic of Donald Trump, declined to run in the GOP primary out of concern that adding to a crowded field would help the former president.
“It’s not something I’m pursuing,” Mr. Hogan said of a third-party run on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “I’m hoping we don’t get to that point. I have not closed the door to that. If I believe that we can actually win the race.” He rejected the notion that such a campaign would draw voters from President Biden and help Mr. Trump in the general election, arguing that it’s hard to ignore how unpopular both men are in the polls.
“The current president has two different independent counsels investigating multiple different things, problems with his son,” Mr. Hogan said. “We’ve got the former president, who is running this whole grievance effort, still debating the results of the last election and has four different indictments and potentially 90-some charges against them. I mean, if ever, there was a time to say, maybe we need to have a choice C, it might be 2024.
