Larry Brooks, a long-time sports writer for The New York Post, has been awarded the prestigious title of co-sportswriter of the year for New York State by the National Sports Media Association.
Larry Brooks of The New York Post has been named the co-sportswriter of the year for New York State by the National Sports Media Association. This is the fourth time a writer from The Post has received this honor, which is voted on by industry peers and has been given out annually since 1959. Brooks joins a prestigious list of winners including Phil Mushnick (six-time winner), Mike Vaccaro (four-time winner), and Brian Costello (2015).
Brooks began his career at The Post in 1975 as a part-time clerk and has held various positions covering the Islanders, Devils, and Rangers throughout his tenure. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018 for his contributions to hockey journalism
