Three businesses in Notts have been or are in the process of going
Pub chain Wetherspoon has announced the sale of a further 11 sites - including one in Nottinghamshire. The Regent, in Diamond Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, is the latest to go on the market.
It follows the closure of The Sir John Arderne, in Newark, in August, and the Widow Frost in Mansfield, which closed on September 17, is under offer. Now a further 10 freeholds and one leasehold pub are going on the market after Wetherspoon appointed estate agents Savills and CBRE. The pubs are being considered for sale either individually, in small groups, or the entirety.
Spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We can confirm that The Regent in Kirkby-in-Ashfield has been put on the market by Wetherspoon. This is a commercial decision taken by the company. The pub will remain open pending its sale.” Paul Breen, director at Savills, said: “These substantial and well-invested pubs are likely to appeal to a broad range of potential buyers.” Toby Hall, senior director at CBRE, added: “The pubs are all in long established and proven trading locations making them ideal for both existing pub operators and new entrants”.
The Regent is a large pub set in a corner plot in Kingsway. One pub goer said: "It has a huge presence in the town centre - it will be a big loss".
