A large mulch fire that started overnight has caused New Braunfels firefighters to close a local road.A road in New Braunfels has been closed because of a large mulch fire that ignited early Tuesday.
The New Braunfels Fire Department said in a tweet that Solms Road between FM 482 and Wald Road will be closed for the next 24 hours while it monitors the fire, which is now under control. According to the fire department, the fire started at around 1:10 a.m. when two mulch piles were found burning outside of Eggemeyer Land Clearing. Two other mulch piles ignited soon after.The New Braunfels Fire Department remains on the scene of a large mulch fire that began overnight at a business in the 300 block of Solms Road. Crews arrived around 1:10am and found two large mulch piles burning, with two additional piles igniting since.
Solms Road will remain closed until crews are no longer on scene, David Ferguson, a spokesperson with the city of New Braunfels told the Express-News."The fire will remain going for several hours," Ferguson said."The remaining daylight hours today, and crews will remain on scene to make sure there are no hot spots or continued spreading and to make sure it doesn't get further.
