Sebastian Lang-Lessing will lead the Musicians of the San Antonio Symphony through two independently-produced concerts on Thursday and Friday.
Sebastian Lang-Lessing, former music director emeritus of the San Antonio Symphony, is leading the Musicians of the San Antonio Symphony in a performance of Beethoven at the First Baptist Church of San Antonio this week. While every concert of the 2021-2022 season so far has been canceled since musicians called the strike in September 2021, two weekends of concerts originally slated to be conducted by Lang-Lessing, May 13-14 and May 20-21, remain on the schedule. Lang-Lessing spoke of the 19th-century German composer fighting through late-career deafness to become a world-changing figure, writing music even as battles with Napoleon’s invading forces raged outside his windows.
