The upgrades form part of £3.9m funding from the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund
Roadworks aimed at addressing congestion and improving road safety are to begin in Glengormley from Monday 20th February and are expected to last until summer.
A traffic management system will be in place for the duration of the project which will include a lane closure from the Bank of Ireland to beyond the junction. This will operate between 9.30am – 4.30pm, Monday - Friday. Some pedestrian footways will also be affected as under-ground utilities will also be upgraded.The timing of these works will enable all available funding to be maximised and follows close engagement with the Department for Infrastructure.
Plans are also underway for the delivery of a new environmental improvement scheme which will introduce new paving, street furniture and improved lighting, breathing new life into Glengormley.
