To warm. Not right
Despite a wet and windy start to the week, lots of the UK will see a much drier and milder end to the week, reports the Met Office.
Flood alerts and warnings were issued for parts of Lancashire and Cumbria this week, but Met Office forecasters have said it will be a better end to the week. High pressure is expected to restrict rain to the northwest and pull up mild air from the southwest, bringing many a dry and exceptionally mild few days.
In the latest 10 Day trend, Alex Deakin said “For many, the second half of the week looks a lot drier than the first half of the week, but the winds coming up from the southwest bringing mild air as well as some strong gusts, especially over parts of northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland”“The main focus will be the temperatures overnight.
The mild weather is expected to continue throughout the weekend and high pressure will lead to calmer weather too. However, the lighter winds mean that mist and fog may linger throughout the day in some areas and therefore sunshine could be limited. Alex continued "A strong jet stream often leads to an unsettled, usually wet and windy theme with low pressures approaching the UK. These low pressures have the potential to become quite volatile bringing some very windy weather to the UK throughout next week so it’s important to keep up to date with the forecast over the coming days."
