Fresh NHS data has lifted the lid on how well Lancashire's GPs are performing on waiting times and face to face GP appointments according to new figures out for practices in England

Fresh NHS data has lifted the lid on how well Lancashire's GPs are performing on waiting times and face to face GP appointments according to new figures out for practices in England.

Across the country, the average wait for an appointment in England was between two and seven days according to the data. Nationally there were 13 practices though where the typical wait was 15 to 21 days and just 73.4% of GP appointments took place face-to-face in October, with 12.0% of appointments face-to-face at the worst performers.

The latest data also reveals the percentage of same day appointments.. Burscough Family Practice in West Lancs only saw 17.1% of patients the same day, while patients waited between eight and 14 days on average for an appointment, Haverthwaite Surgery in Ulverston saw 17,9%, Abbey Dale Medical Centre in Blackpool saw 18%, although only 24.2% - less than a quarter - of people actually saw a GP there in general and South King Street Medical Centre, also in Blackpool, saw 18.

Fewer than half of appointments at practices in England were actually with GPs according to the data, at 45.8%. Across our region, the worst ten performers in this category were well below the national benchmark in October, however.
