Lancaster Pride held a vigil Friday night to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots , emphasizing unity and acceptance in the community.'It was important to me to show up and show my community I am here both for you and as one of you,' said Kris Kitts of Lancaster.The Stonewall Riots began in 1969 in New York City and marked a significant turning point for the LGBTQ+ community.
'We are coming together not just to remember our history but to advocate for a world where you're alive. We can do this thing together,' Kitts said.'Living in your authenticity every single day will always be an act of protest,' said Sonii Bora of Lancaster.The vigil also served as a gathering for allies, like Jennifer Blakesley, whose daughter is part of the LGBTQ+ community.
