A woman has been charged with animal fighting and 22 related offenses for the conditions of the birds, believed used in a Maryland cockfighting ring.
Kelly Lynn Cole, 46, of Holtwood, is facing charges of animal fighting and 22 related offenses in connection with the birds’ poor conditions.
A PSPCA agent who visited Cole’s farm found roosters that had their combs and wattles removed, consistent with birds being used for cockfighting. Investigators did not find any evidence of her participation in 4H shows and said the removal of the birds’ combs and wattles would not make sense for showing them. Cole told them her grandfather and father had used some of the birds for cockfighting in the past, according to charging documents, and she had inherited the birds without combs and wattles.
