Lancaster County’s crime rates significantly decreased in 2025, according to county commissioner Josh Parsons. Parsons said in a Facebook post that the county only had four criminal homicides last year, which he said is “virtually unique” in the country.

He said Lancaster County’s homicide rate last year was well below the national average per capita, which he said is between 25-70 for counties with populations between 500,000 and 1 million.
