Police say they have received more reports of youths playing on ice on the canal and on the River Lune
Lancashire Police has been forced to issue another warning after more children have been seen playing on dangerous ice over freezing water.
They are warning people to stay off the ice. It could be seriously dangerous and children are at high risk.A spokesperson for the force said: "This afternoon we have received reports of youths playing on ice on the canal and on the River Lune. It comes after a huge search operation was launched in Blackburn when children were seen playing on the ice. Lancashire Constabulary officers were joined by North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and the Rivers and Canals Trust for a search operation.
A spokesperson said: "This took resources away from other emergency situations at this very busy time of year for all emergency services. We know that water safety is in the national news after the tragic loss of life in the West Midlands over the weekend and we want to remind you of the devastating consequences that entering frozen water can have.
