Lancashire braces for 24 hours of snow with six centimetres an hour at its worst
Snow is set to fall across Lancashire for 24 hours, according to the latest UK weather map predictions.
Temperatures have plummeted across the county this week, with the the UK Health Security Agency issuing a three-day cold weather alert, which remains in place until today . It has warned that freezing temperatures are expected as very cold air spreads. As a result of the warning, members of the public are encouraged to stay warm and look out for those most at risk from the effects of the weather, such as people with medical conditions or over the age of 65.The Met Office have warned that snow "could develop quite widely" on Thursday and Friday.
In Lancashire, snow is set to fall on Thursday according to the weather forecaster WXCharts. The forecast suggests that snow will fall across the county from 9am. It is expected to reach as much as five centimetres per hour in Lancaster, Morecambe, Burnley and the Ribble Valley. By 6am on Friday morning will see up to six centimetres of the white stuff fall across East Lancs every hour. But by 9am on Friday, the snow is set to have completely stopped in the county as it drifts down south of the county.
