Ex-Haas star will ease himself into the role by racing Huracan GT3 EVO2 in 24 Hours of Daytona this coming January
working on its brand new LMDh endurance racer and while we don’t yet know everything about the still-secret race car, we do at least know who will drive it. The supercar firm’s Squadra Corse racing division has snapped up former F1 star Romain Grosjean to handle some of the driving duties.
Grosjean started 179 races for Renault, Lotus, and Haas, and though he didn’t take the chequered flag at any of those races he did score 10 podium finishes and bag 391 points along the way. More recently Grosjean has been competing in the IndyCar Series where he racked up another four podiums. But Grosjean is also no stranger to close-wheel racing. Before entering F1 he contested events like the 2010 Spa 24 Hours and claimed victory on his FIA GT1 World Championship Debut that same year., which will be run by Iron Lynx and compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship in 2024.
“[LMDh is] becoming a very exciting category with all the constructors coming,” said Grosjean, who admitted his kids are as excited about his association with Lambo as he is. “With Lamborghini being such a successful brand, I hope we can do well in the future.”stronger top-tier motorsport heritage was something of a sore point, but success over its old rival with the new 2024 LMDh endurance racing program would definitely help to redress that balance.
