Angelina Steiner, a college administrator and community volunteer, has been chosen to fill the vacant at-large council seat in Lakewood, Ohio. Steiner was selected from six female candidates interviewed by the Council's Committee of the Whole. Her experience in higher education and her active involvement in various city initiatives made her a strong contender.

LAKEWOOD , Ohio -- City Council on Monday picked a college administrator and prolific community volunteer to serve as its newest at-large council member.

After council emerged from a lengthy executive session Monday night, Vice President Kyle Baker told the other finalists not to give up. “Your talents are still needed in this city, so stay involved,” he said. “You can lose at first, like I did, and then eventually get up here.” Steiner is a familiar face to city government. She is the current co-chair of the city’s Anti-Racism Task Force and a member of the school district’s Facilities Task Force. She previously served on the city’s Charter Review Commission and the Community Health Needs Assessment’s steering committee.
