Luka Doncic's focus is entirely on the Los Angeles Lakers despite the Dallas Mavericks letting Nico Harrison go.
It's probably safe to say that the Lakers won the now-infamous in-season trade for star guard Luka Doncic in early February of the 2024-25 season. Doncic is playing at an MVP level this season, averaging an astonishing 34.
9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.9 assists while leading the Lakers to an 8-4 record. He currently holds theLakers' Bronny James Urged to Add One More Skill to Crack Rotation Forward Anthony Davis, one of three assets gained in the Doncic trade, has played just five games this season and has missed the entirety of November with a left calf strain. While Davis has had an admirable career, injuries have consistently been a problem for the 10-time All-Star.Guard Max Christie was the other player involved in the trade. While the 22-year-old has had a promising start to his career, his statline doesn't exactly scream future superstar. The two players paired with a first round pick are considered a steal for the other worldly player that is Doncic. It's safe to say that Doncic seems content with his situation in Los Angeles, even after telling reporters that he had expected to be a member of the Mavericks for his entire career. Per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Doncic was asked whether he would return to the Dallas Mavericks at some point in his career now that Harrison is no longer the general manager. It was an interesting question, considering Doncic is tied to Los Angeles until becoming an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2029-30 season, with the expectation that the Lakers will attempt to bring back a player widely regarded as one of the best in the league.
