A few hours after LeBron James had the Drew League buzzing in L.A., the Lakers’ Summer League team capped its stay in Las Vegas with a 95-84 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
LAS VEGAS — With the Lakers’ most high-profile player continuing to make news closer to home, the Lakers’ Summer League team put together one of its best efforts and capped its stay in Sin City on a three-game winning streak after a 95-84 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.for the first time in 11 years and dropped 42 points in a pro-am game in a packed, energized high school gym in L.A.
Sharpshooting rookie Cole Swider scored 16 points and shot 6 for 9 overall – 4 for 6 from 3-point range to pace the Lakers, who had a 10-point lead after one quarter and a 20-point lead by halftime . Center Jay Huff, who missed the Lakers’ final game at the four-team California Classic in San Francisco, and then their first three in Las Vegas while in the health and safety protocols, had 13 points, four assists and three blocked shots.
Javante McCoy had 12 points in 26 minutes, while Scotty Pippen Jr. added 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in 19 minutes for the Lakers, who led by as much as 26 points. Vitto Brown added nine points, Mason Jones had eight points and four assists, and Shareef O’Neal added six points and three rebounds in nine minutes.
