Lake County commissioners have authorized bids for a road realignment project estimated to cost up to $620,000PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Lake County commissioners have authorized bids for a road realignment project estimated to cost up to $620,000 that will reconfigure the intersection of Mill Morr Road and Jackson Street in Painesville Township and include improvements on Girdled Road in Concord Township.
The Lake County Intersection Re-Alignment Project carries an engineer’s estimate of $580,000 to $620,000 and is partially funded through the Ohio Public Works Commission. Commissioners approved the resolution Thursday without discussion. Bids are scheduled to be opened March 4.will be realigned to Jackson Street, with sections of existing pavement removed and rebuilt. The project includes installation of a new stone base, asphalt concrete base and surface layers, fabric interlayer, aggregate berm and new guardrail. The roadway will also be re-striped. The project also includes work on Girdled Road in Concord Township between Ravenna Road and a section previously improved under an Ohio Department of Transportation project. That work includes construction of a new aggregate berm, grading and guardrail replacement. Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction, but a detour will be required at the Mill Morr Road and Jackson Street intersection during the realignment work, according to the specifications.After bids are opened, county officials are expected to return to commissioners with a recommended contract award at a future meeting.
