KOTA KINABALU: Retailers and businesses in Lahad Datu have been warned of a scammer pretending to be a 'Fire Department hostel warden'.
KOTA KINABALU: Retailers and businesses in Lahad Datu have been warned of a scammer pretending to be a"Fire Department hostel warden".
Lahad Datu Fire Station chief Sumsoa Rashid said they had received information that someone is posing as a fire department hostel warden seeking to purchase large quantities of beds. "We received information from a furniture shop attendant about an order of some 30 double-decked beds and 70 mattresses," he said when contacted on Monday ."Be careful and always contact the fire station if there are any doubts over such orders," said Sumsoa, adding they had not lodged a police report yet.
A scam alert was also issued via various social media platforms including the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station Facebook page. Lahad Datu police chief Asst Comm Dr Rohan Shah Ahmad said they have not received any report over the matter but were monitoring the situation.
