The aircraft was believed to be traveling from Santa Monica to Van Nuys Airport before it lost contact with air traffic control on Saturday night.
Authorities were searching near Mulholland Drive on Saturday evening for a small, single-engine aircraft after it apparently lost contact with air traffic control, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The aircraft was believed to be traveling from Santa Monica to the Van Nuys Airport before it lost contact with air traffic control around 8 p.m., according to an update from LAFD. Crews had been searching the mountainous, foggy terrain before identifying an emergency beacon signal that was sent in the area around Beverly Glen Terrace and Beverly Glen Boulevard.
In its latest update, LAFD said it will release further information “if and when an aircraft is located.”
