The first leg starts Wednesday in Mexico followed by the second leg Sunday at BMO Stadium, with a trophy and FIFA Club World Cup invitation at stake

Five weeks following a successful road trip that secured their spot in the CONCACAF Champions League final, the Los Angeles Football Club has one more chance to make a great first impression.

LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo wasn’t contemplating prizes as his group, which is healthy and fit beyond defender Giorgio Chiellini, prepared to embark to Mexico this week. If it appears in the Club World Cup between Dec. 12-22, LAFC would have to arrive in Saudi Arabia no later than three days after the MLS Cup.

Challenging first-match road contests have grown more difficult as the competition unfolded and that trend appears to peak with Club León. The fast-paced Liga MX team went 3-0 at Estadio León leading to their second-ever final appearance, outscoring visitors, including Tigres in the semifinals, by a combined score of 10-1.
