Authorities have recently dismissed three separate murder charges, one aimed at a man accused in his wife’s death and two stemming from gunfire during a highway race.

An eight-month investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office followed her death, with charging papers, filed in 2021, noting a purported outcry from the couple's 6-year-old son. The husband then"admitted to having a physical altercation with her before going to bed," prosecutors said during a probable cause hearing. Gron purported that the two spent their day drinking and that she overdosed on alcohol and prescription medication, records show.

A public defender for Gron said after his arrest that the charge appears reliant on the child’s outcry and that the statement likely stemmed from a pending custody dispute.
