The chair of Federal Parliament's powerful bipartisan Intelligence and Security Committee issued Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil with a 'please explain' notice last week over a bungled terrorist relisting.

The chair of Federal Parliament's powerful bipartisan Intelligence and Security Committee issued Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil with a"please explain" notice last week over a bungled terrorist relisting.

"The Committee noted that, unlike the process documents provided for previous reviews, the process for the 2023 re-listings did not specify that the Minister for Home Affairs wrote to the Attorney-General endorsing the re-listing of the organisations," Mr Khalil wrote in a letter seen by Sky News Australia.

The Counter-Terrorism Coordination Centre's First Assistant Secretary Chris Field responded to the letter on Monday, confirming an"administrative error" had been behind the lack of formal written input from the minister. "As a result of this error, the Minister for Home Affairs did not write to the Attorney-General in relation to these re-listings in this instance."

Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson described the oversight as a"shocking admission of incompetence" from his ministerial counterpart. "Islamic State, ISWAP and Boko Haram all continue to commit violent terrorist attacks causing death and injury. Having reviewed the available evidence, the Committee has no hesitation endorsing the relisting of them as terrorist organisations under Australia's criminal law," Mr Khalil said in a statement.

The Murray-Darling Basin plan is a partnership to share the water between all users and the environment sustainably and acts as a framework for working toward a functional, working basin. “I particularly welcome all of the contributions people have made on this legislation,” Ms Plibersek said during Question Time on Wednesday. “I really enjoyed listening to the leader of the National Party and his contribution. “He said that the Coalition were on track to deliver the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, well that’s true if you think the year 4000 is a good year to deliver the plan.”
