A labor leader said that the P30 daily wage hike approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board -6 is not substantial while a business leader said it's a fraud. Wennie Sancho, secretary-general of the General Alliance of Workers Association , said the increase should be P50 which is closer to the P55 daily wage hike that was implemented in June last year. Sancho, who is a former labor representative to the wage board, said the P30 is not enough even for the fare rates now.

granted a P30 increase across all sectors, thus increasing daily pay to P480 for non-agriculture establishments with more than 10 workers, P450 for non-agriculture establishments with 10 workers or less, and P440 for workers in agriculture. also approved a monthly increase of P500 for domestic workers, bringing the monthly wage rate to P5,000 in Region 6. All pay hikes will take effect on Nov. 16.*
