Labor Day storms to clear up later in week: forecasters

Thunderstorms over the holiday are expected to give way to clearer skies by Thursday this week.

Stormy skies early this week, including over the Labor Day holiday, are expected to give way to clearer conditions around Thursday, the National Weather Service is projecting.

Periodic thunderstorms are likely starting late Sunday morning, according to the NWS, and storm clouds will remain until Wednesday, with the Labor Day holiday on Monday having the highest chance of serious precipitation. Labor Day will also bring some cooler temperatures, with Sunday’s high of 89 degrees dropping down to 79 on Monday, according to the NWS. Temperatures are expected to rise back to the mid-80s by Saturday.Scattered showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
