AMID the emergence of virtual jobs during the coronavirus disease pandemic, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma is pushing for the establishment of occupational safety and health standards for those that are working online.

“Perhaps a central point in policy and regulatory discourse in the coming years, I would dare say, would be the dynamic of seeing the scope of occupational safety and health standards expand," said Laguesma. The labor chief said this is because OSH standards must be able to keep in step with the changes in the different industries.

Earlier in the week, the Philippines hosted the first in-person meeting of the ASEAN-OSHNET since the Covid-19 pandemic.
