The Albanese Government has approved SunCable’s ambitious Australia-Asia Power Link (AAPowerLink) which will become the largest solar precinct in the world.
Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has given environmental approval to a 12,000-hectare solar farm in the Northern Territory, just days after rejecting a roughly 1,116-hectare gold mine in New South Wales.The Albanese Government has approved SunCable’s ambitious Australia-Asia Power Link which will become the largest solar precinct in the world.
While the development area of the NSW mine was just 1,116 hectares , about 2km of the site was determined to be a “significant Aboriginal area”. Shadow minister for Indigenous Australians and Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price described Ms Plibersek’s decision to block the proposal as “utterly disgraceful”.
However, Ms Plibersek disclosed she could not reveal what those traditions or practices were as they were culturally sensitive.
