Solis pointed fondly to Molina’s organizing against a prison in East L.A. in the 1980s and her quest to increase Latina representation in politics.
The Saturday evening “Celebration of Life” event was not meant only for mourning. It was a celebration of Molina and her community, with live music performed by Mariachi Sol de Mexico, bright purple and white floral decorations and caring jokes told about Molina’s grit and persistence.
