La Mesa officer who shot, killed armed man running through parking lot ID'd [Breaking]
. Per the department’s policy, he’s been placed on leave while the shooting is investigated, police said.
“It appears the suspect tried to fire at the officer multiple times but the firearm malfunctioned,” Shebloski said. During the shooting, one of Heller’s rounds hit a passing vehicle, but the driver wasn’t struck, police said. Another of his rounds struck a building.
