La Liga de Campeones se reanuda el martes cuando el Manchester United, uno de los equipos más laureados en la competencia, está de luto por el fallecimiento del astro Bobby Charlton.
Charlton, quien falleció el sábado a los 86 años, sobrevivió al fatal accidente de avión en Munich en febrero de 1958 que devastó al entonces campeón inglés que regresaba de un juego de la Copa Europea. Ocho jugadores fallecieron. Pero 10 años después levantó el trofeo como capitán del equipo que reconstruyó Matt Busby, quien resultó gravemente herido en el accidente.
Manchester United inició su campaña en la Liga de Campeones en Munich, pero no fue satisfactorio retorno a la máxima competencia tras disputar la Europa League hace un año. Con derrotas consecutivas, el United es último en el Grupo A para sumar a la presión sobre el técnico Erik ten Hag. Los duelos de ida y vuelta ante Copenhague serán claves para que el equipo tenga oportunidad de avanzar.

Si la fase de grupos parece predecible, el Bayern Munich es una razón. El campeón alemán no ha perdido ningún duelo de la fase de grupos desde el 2017 y no ha perdido puntos desde el 2020, aunque hace tres semanas necesitó de un gol a los 83 minutos para superar a Copenhague. Ahora visita al Galatasaray en Estambul. El Leipzig recibe al Red Star de Belgrado el miércoles tras perder 3-1 con el City.
