Los Angeles County on Thursday announced it filed a lawsuit against Southern California Edison to recover costs in connection with last year's devastating Woolsey Fire.
The blaze led to the evacuation of more than 200,000 people in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and charred more than 96,000 acres there. "This legal action is an important and essential step toward accountability and recovery," said LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, whose district includes the Woolsey fire area.
"As is the case with litigation, SCE cannot comment on any lawsuits associated with the Woolsey Fire," the company said in a statement Thursday.
