As of Friday, there were 1,261 COVID-positive patients in county hospitals, up slightly from 1,256 on Thursday.

The 3,257 new infections reported by the county Friday lifted the cumulative total from throughout the pandemic to 3,598,453. Health officials have repeatedly stressed that the number of new cases reported each day is an undercount, due to people’s use of at-home tests, and the number of residents who don’t test at all.

As of Friday, the seven-day average daily rate of people testing positive for the virus in the county was 10.9%. On Friday, she again urged residents to exercise caution during the upcoming holiday season, and to be sure they are up-to-date on vaccinations and booster shots.
