Former president of the Los Angeles City Council Nury Martinez has taken a leave of absence from the council as of this morning, after a lengthy recording of her making racist comments surfaced. Yesterday she stepped down from her position as the LA City Council President. For some explanation of this, KCBS Radio news anchor Holly Quan spoke with KCBS Radio's Kris Ankarlo.
