Members of the Los Angeles City Council want to only meet once a week while making a salary of almost a quarter of a million dollars.

A heatwave is continuing to bring temperatures above 100 dreeges and an increased fire threat to Southern California. City Council want to only meet once a week while making a salary of almost a quarter of a million dollars.
“I’m working all the time,” Councilmember Katie Yaroslavsky said at a meeting. “I’m either working here, I’m working in my district, I’m doing dishes and vacuuming at home, and all I want to do is be more efficient in this space. ”Councilmember Monica Rodriguez told the California Post recently that wanting to work less days is tone deaf.
“The idea that members of this council would ask the public to grant them less days of showing up for work for council meetings is tone deaf,” she told the outlet. Rodriguez said there needs to be better management at meetings, but fewer gatherings isn’t the answer.
“A lot of that just is born out of good planning, proper planning as a committee chair,” she said. “I do believe the public expects us to conduct these meetings. ”Gas and deisel prices in Washington State have hit record highs over the past few months, already having had one of the highest average prices in the country.
