LA Bakery Walk is a one-of-a-kind event in Los Angeles that combines walking a half marathon with eating tasty treats!

Friday, March 6, 2026 11:06PMThere's a one-of-a-kind event that combines walking with eating. They walked from bakery to bakery along a route sampling tasty treats! Each of the participants have numbers, but there's nothing to be gained by coming in first place except maybe getting to be first in line at the next food stop.

"It's kind of hard and tough, because I'm walking and feel like I shouldn't be eating, but then it's so good," one of the participants said."We also just ran a marathon, so this is a really fun follow-up, a little treat after accomplishing something pretty big," another participant said. It also gives small businesses a little extra exposure to those who might not otherwise have stopped by."It's a very loyal fan base. I'm sure a lot of them are thrown off by the 100 people right now, but all business is good business, so we appreciate it," Recker said. "Some of these places I wouldn't have found otherwise, so this is really cool to expose me to new places I can come back to and enjoy all the rest of the pasties I didn't get to try." Irene Chang is the organizer of the bakery walk. She says she got the idea from something they did in New York called the New York Bakery Run. "They kind of focus more on the running, but I'm a baker myself, so I wanted to focus more on that aspect and create a space where I can build a community. This was more slow and intentional," said Chang. "It was a lot more relaxed; they really emphasized that it's a walk. It's going to take some time, but actually we're 4.5 miles in, and it's really fun," one of the participants said.
