ANAHEIM, Calif. — Kyle Palmieri had a career-high four points with a goal and three assists, Brock Nelson scored two goals and linemate Pierre Engvall also scored in the New York Islanders’ 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.
The 32-year-old Palmieri scored four points for the first time in his 724-game NHL career, which began with five seasons in Anaheim.Brock Nelson looks to take the puck away from Philip Danualt as Ilya Sorokin defends the net during the Islanders’ win.Hudson Fasching and Zach Parise also scored and Ilya Sorokin made 20 saves in a bounce-back performance for the Islanders, who had been outscored 10-3 in its first back-to-back regulation losses since January.
The Islanders are even with Pittsburgh and six points ahead of Florida atop the Eastern Conference wild-card standings, but the Penguins and the Panthers both have three games in hand on the Isles. Shattenkirk added a power-play goal in the third period for the sixth two-goal game of his long career.
