A Madison County grand jury has indicted Kyle Long on two counts: murder and aggravated murder in the death of his wife, Rachel Long. The indictment was handed up on Thursday, March 12. Long is currently incarcerated at the Tri-County Regional Jail on a $1.
5 million bond.According to the criminal complaint, Kyle Long called deputies on October 23, 2025, to report his wife had died by suicide. When deputies arrived, Kyle said his wife went to their bedroom while he was watching TV in another room. Kyle says he heard laughing and then screaming. When he checked on his wife, he alleges she was stabbing herself in the face and neck. In a 911 call, Long said, “My wife just stabbed herself. There’s no pulse, blood all over the place.”When Kyle was interviewed a second time, detectives say he made statements that were not consistent with statements made on the day of the incident.
