Kyle Larson beats out Chase Elliott for Watkins Glen win.
Elliott chose to let his teammate past. Larson then went on to win, a swing of points to Larson and away from Elliott that could come up in each of the first three rounds of the upcoming postseason. It left Elliott angry and Larson uncharacteristically subdued in his celebration, but,Behind the leaders, Kimi Raikkonen's Cup Series debut briefly went exceptionally well.
For current Cup Series competitors, the focus now shifts to Daytona. With 15 winners and 16 spots, the final spot is now currently being held by Ryan Blaney. He has 25 points on Martin Truex Jr. and seems likely to retain his position without a crash next week, but any top 30 winner but Blaney, Truex, or the other 15 drivers that have already won a race would push him out of the field.
