The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission will determine if the A’s stay or go with a Thursday vote.
Of course, if the vote goes against the A’s Thursday, meaning the new ballpark bid in Oakland bid fails, the A’s would need to make their move to the desert in short order. Las Vegas might be an epicenter of tourism, but it is the 40th-ranked media market in the country, closer in size to Spokane, Washington than St. Louis.
And that’s the truth that hangs over this entire process: If the A’s really thought Las Vegas was a better or even an equitable market to Oakland, they wouldn’t have taken on this onerous process of building in California.
