Kumail Nanjiani Says Scorsese Has ‘Earned the Right’ to Criticize Marvel: ‘It’s Strange People Get Upset About It’

Kumail Nanjiani is 'waiting to hear when or if' Marvel is going to move forward with Eternals 2. He still doesn't know: 'I’m hoping I get to do more...It’d be a shame if he’s a sort of one and done. But, you know, the decision’s not mine to make.”

“I obviously love the movies Tarantino makes or Scorsese makes,” Nanjiani recently told. “And I may disagree with Scorsese’s opinion on superhero movies, but I mean, who else has earned the right to have an opinion?”

Scorsese ignited fury among Marvel fans back in Oct. 2019 when he told Empire magazine, “I don’t see [Marvel movies]. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.
