KULIM: A total of 32 flood victims from eight families were evacuated to a temporary relief centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Paya Tok Betok on Sunday (April 26).

Kulim Civil Defence Force officer Lt Mohd Fadhil Fahmi Zaini said heavy rain from 4.30pm, which lasted for more than an hour, led to water from the nearby Musang King plantation flooding the low lying area.

"The department received a call about the flood around 5.10pm and, upon reaching the site, we found the village flooded in water up to 0.5m high," he said in a statement Monday . In Bukit Mertajam, 148 people were evacuated after non-stop heavy rain caused homes in several low-lying areas to be flooded.
