Top White House economist Larry Kudlow on Thursday said the U.S.-China Phase 1 trade deal is"intact" and doesn't need to be renegotiated. But Kudlow, speaking during a Washington Post live interview, said he was"not anything close to being satisfied" with Beijing's response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Echoing President Donald Trump's blaming of China, Kudlow said China would be held"accountable" but didn't specify how. Trump ratcheted up rhetoric towards Beijing on Wednesday night, saying over Twitter that it has spread"pain and carnage" throughout the world. U.S. stocks DJIA, -0.56% fell more than 60 points Thursday afternoon amid fresh tensions between Washington and Beijing.
