Noem is appearing before Congress for a second day as she faces questions on ICE's handling of immigration enforcement and the effects of the department's partial shutdown. “I move to subpoena Kristi Noem to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform,” Krishnamoorthi said. “This is for every family impacted by Kristi Noem’s terror campaign. They demand answers, and so do I.”in Minnesota’s welfare programs. Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison testified before the Committee. In a lengthy monologue, Krishnamoorthi accused Noem of failing to face “consequences” for what he deemed the “rampant corruption and waste within her agency.” “DHS is out of control,” Krishnamoorthi said. “There is no congressional oversight. I was denied entrance to ICE facilities twice in Illinois. There is no accountability. Secretary Nome has still not appeared before this committee, nor has she responded in a substantive manner to more than one dozen letters I've sent her." ICE had implemented a Department of Homeland Security 's policy requiring a one week notice from lawmakers seeking to visit an ICE facility.
