RELATED: KPRC 2 welcomes Stephania Jimenez as evening anchor for 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts While Jimenez is new to many Houston viewers, she is no stranger to Texas or to the responsibility that comes with local journalism. She describes her work as an extension of the community, one rooted in accountability, connection, and finding real solutions for people at home. “I’m so excited to be here and to meet all of you and all the diverse communities around Houston,” Jimenez said. “Ultimately, I came here to do work. Journalism is an extension of the community, and I want to be here to help people find solutions and make their lives better.” Born and raised in Brooklyn to a Puerto Rican mom, Jimenez proudly calls herself a Brooklyn Texan. Texas has pulled her back time and again throughout her career, with stops in El Paso, Corpus Christi , San Antonio, and now Houston. She says the warmth of the people and the deep connection to community are what continue to bring her back. Jimenez has covered some of the state’s most impactful and heartbreaking stories, including the tragedy in Uvalde and the devastating Hill Country floods emphasizing that local journalism does not end when national headlines move on.She noted that many Texans continue to feel the effects of those tragedies today, and she believes it is a journalist’s responsibility to keep asking questions, following the money, and checking in long after the network cameras leave. Beyond breaking news, Jimenez is passionate about covering the everyday issues that impact families across Houston. She says many of the most important moments happen off camera, through phone calls, conversations, and sitting down with people in their homes. As she settles into Houston, Jimenez is also eager to explore the city she now calls home. A self-described foodie who loves to cook, she says the city’s food scene already has her excited. She jokes that her homemade meatballs and sauce are a serious point of pride, especially with an Italian husband who knows good food. Still, Jimenez says her focus remains on the role journalism plays during a time of growing skepticism and online noise. “There’s a lot of division out there,” she said. “It’s not a spectrum. It’s not left and right. It’s us.”'People who look like me should not be people of suspicion': ICE protest at Houston Council meetingTxDOT begins Alabama Street bridge demolition near downtown HoustonHouston ISD students face freezing classrooms after HVAC problemsCatch up on today’s top headlinesDeputy accidentally shot in hand by 3-year-old nephew who accessed duty gun in Spring homeHouston officers outside offices of Arnold & Itkin after deadly jet crashBuc-ee’s T-Shirt Frozen Solid in Just 15 MinutesIcy Roads at Lake Conroe This Morning | Don’t Drive Unless NecessaryWater spewing into air after water main break during Houston winter storm
