Girls basketball regular season technically ended Tuesday night for University Interscholastic League teams in Montgomery County.Three tiebreaker games will take place Friday evening with one of those teams playing for their playoff lives. The other two games will feature teams trying to improve on their seeding.
Lake Creek looks to shore up the second-seed in District 21-5A with a 5 p.m. tip against A&M Consolidated . That game will take place at Bryan High School. The Bears came up just shy Tuesday night in a three-point home loss to A&M Consolidated on senior night. Brenham, meanwhile, fell by 13 points to district champion College Station.Montgomery and the Cubs split their regular season meetings.
It was a completely different story Tuesday of last week as the Bears piled up a 47-24 home victory over Brenham, holding the Cubs to six first-half points.Montgomery’s loss to Consol snapped a three-game win streak.Montgomery is playing for consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.Going 2-2 over their final four games, the Lions slipped out of the district title watch and down into a tie for second place with A&M Consolidated.
