Mitchell Robinson has provided sterling minutes off the bench during this New York Knicks playoff run.
The Knicks announced on Tuesday that center Mitchell Robinson would not only miss Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday , but that he'll be forced to sit out for the next six-to-eight weeks due to a stress injury on his left ankle.— NY_ Knicks PR Robinson injuries have, alas, been a far too recurring theme of this otherwise sterling Knicks season.
Now, unless the Knicks reach the NBA Finals ... no easy task considering the road ahead ... Robinson's season appeas to be over. While the injury more or less forced Robinson to cede his traditional starting spot to Isaiah Hartenstein, he was providing strong minutes off the bench by pulling in nearly seven rebounds a game.
Robinson's box score in Game 1 of the Pacers series, a 121-117 New York win, was perhaps an ominous precursor to Tuesday's news, as he played only 11 minutes. With Robinson out, the Knicks will likely have to expand their rotation once again, previously reintroducing Precious Achiuwa back in the fold after Bojan Bogdanovic was likewise lost for the rest of the postseason.
